Before you touch anything¶

In Ankh-Morpork terms, we are about to start pulling threads in a tapestry where some threads hold up the entire city and others are connected to the Assassins’ Guild alarm system.

Document what we are going to do. Get permission in writing. Establish rollback procedures. Know who to call when things go wrong. Because they will go wrong, and “I was just trying to help” is not an adequate incident report.
